Kovar saves the Czechs
Czech Republic played Ireland in their World Cup qualifier Semi-final on Thursday. Ireland took a 2-0 lead, but the Czechs came back sending the tie into extra time and ultimately a penalty shootout. Ireland looked destined for the next round after taking a lead in the shootout, but Matej Kovar denied Finn Azaz and Alan Browne from the spot, crushing Irish hopes. Kovar's side will face Denmark on Tuesday with hopes of achieving their American Dream.
Karl Darlow's heroics not enough as Wales suffer heartbreak
Wales faced Bosnia on Thursday night at the Cardiff City Stadium. Wales were minutes away from reaching a potential final against Italy, but Edin Dzeko put that possibility on temporary hold. During extra time, Darlow made a phenomenal save as he scooped an effort off the line. Darlow also saved the first penalty of the shootout, but the Dragons' dreams were destroyed as Bosnia progressed and eventually prevented the Italians from qualifying for yet another World Cup.
James Trafford handed England debut
On Friday night, England played Uruguay at Wembley and James Trafford played his first game in senior England colours. Tuchel gave Trafford and James Garner their England caps after the game. Trafford became the first England goalkeeper from Manchester City since Joe Hart in 2017.
Kepa mistake proves costly at Wembley
Kepa played Arsenal's EFL Cup final against Manchester City last weekend after a run of impressive performances in the prior rounds. Despite David Raya's incredible season, Mikel Arteta trusted his other Spanish goalkeeper. However, with the tie in the balance, Kepa failed to catch a cross which led to Nico O'Reilly scoring the opener that changed the complexion of the final. The Citizens went on to lift the trophy as O'Reilly bagged another, leaving Arsenal fans confused with Arteta's team selection.
Tottenham eye up move for English international
Tottenham have been on the hunt for a Guglielmo Vicario replacement for some time now. The club are currently linked to former Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson, whose penalty expertise and leadership qualities make him such a distinct option. However, this move would only be possible if the Lilywhites were to maintain their Premier League status, as they are currently in a relegation battle.
