Gavin Bazunu faces injury blow after January move
Gavin Bazunu was recently loaned out to Stoke, from Southampton, for the remainder of the campaign but he has had the worst possible start to life at the Bet365. After impressing on his debut in a 0-0 draw with QPR last week, he suffered an injury in training which is reported to keep him side-lined with a thigh injury for the next six weeks.
Inter Milan in talks with World Cup winning goalkeeper
Reports suggest that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is potentially eyeing a move away from his current club, in search of a different challenge. Argentina’s 2022 World Cup hero has been at Aston Villa since 2020 but with clubs such as Inter Milan and Manchester United expressing their interest in him, he may be leaving the midlands club.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen joins Girona on loan
German goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, has joined Spanish side Girona on loan for the remainder of the season. Ter Stegen was pushing for a move away from Barcelona with Joan Garcia instated as Hansi Flick’s preferred number one this season. What this move means for Girona goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, who has impressed since joining the club remains in question. However, one thing is certain: Girona have signed a top goalkeeper who for many years was one of the world's best.
Mike Maignan set to sign new contract
AC Milan and Mike Maignan have reached a verbal agreement over a new deal which will run until June 2031. The Frenchman's current contract is set to run out this summer but the club have tried their very best to keep a vital part of the team in the Italian capital.
West Brom sign Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper
West Bromwich Albion have signed goalkeeper Max O'Leary on a six-month deal from Bristol City.
The 29-year-old becomes new Albion boss Eric Ramsay's first signing since taking charge. At the time of signing O'Leary, only Championship basement club Sheffield Wednesday had conceded more goals than West Brom, with the Baggies just three points above the relegation zone.
O'Leary, who was out of contract at Ashton Gate this summer, has only played five times for the Robins this season after missing the start of the campaign because of ankle surgery. He was ever-present as the Somerset club reached the Championship play-off semi-finals last season but lost his place this term to on-loan Manchester United stopper Radek Vitek this campaign.
